I believe my menu choices are extremely well suited for a breakfast and or brunch menu. It has a good range of meals, and appeals to all dietary requirement, including, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free. All of my menu choices are things that you would have seen on breakfast menus before, however I have given them a slight twist. For example I have added Spanish flavours to make my home-made baked beans, giving them more flavour and a difference from your ordinary beans. My cafe is nothing to fancy, I have used simple ingredients to create delicious breakfast options for everyone to enjoy.
My cafe’s name Food for life embodies the food that I have on my menu. They are all meals that you can enjoy all the time, my cafe is not just somewhere you go to indulge, it is somewhere where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast 365 days of the year. Without having to worry about your health, and what your putting in your mouth. With the constant worry across Australia about the growing obesity rates, our population is very aware of their health and what things they should and shouldn't be eating. Its okay to indulge every now and then, but I wanted my cafe to have breakfasts that people could just come and enjoy everyday of the year, without having to worry about what there putting in their mouths. My cafe is a cafe people can trust to feed them good, wholesome, delicious food.
My menu reflects current food trends in many ways, but firstly it appeals to all dietary requirements. According to the an article from the SBS Australia is the leading country in veganism. Hence why we have see sudden growth in vegan options in cafes across Australia. Because of these recent statistics I thought it was important to include a vegan option in my menu. But as we know being vegan is hard work, giving up all animal products can be hard work. Therefore Australia’s vegetarian population is also growing. As of 2013 10% of our population was vegetarian and due to recent rises in 2016, the estimated vegetarian population is 20%, according to Roy Morgan’s research on the Meat Free Australians.
Currently 1 in 50 Australians are effected by gluten intolerances and 1 in 70 Australians have celiac disease. All of these are major factors for cafes, because they potentially determine the food that they serve. So on my menu I have the Vegan ace bowl, for the vegans amongst us, and the Corn Fritters for those who are vegetarian, sugar free, and dairy free. Following this whilst we are concerned for our health some Australian’s love nothing more than a warm hearty breakfast. This is where my Spanish beans come in. Whilst being healthy and gluten free, this is a delicious meal, especially on a winters day. But not only is it warm and delicious, it is a dish that reflects our multicultural Australia. According to the 2012 census, overseas migrants make us 25% of our population and with all of these new cultures comes new delicious food that all Australians want to enjoy. To summarise my menu is a delicious combination of flavours that appeal to all dietary requirements as well the growing multicultural Australia, with diverse flavours that take us across the world. With a diverse country you must have diverse cafes that can appeal to everyone and I believe my menu does that.
